DAWN’S HAND EMBROIDERED BRIDAL SCARF

A bridal trend I am absolutely LOVING is the Bridal Scarf! It adds such an elegant, sophisticated touch to almost any bridal look. I wanted to personalise Dawn’s tulle scarf her in a way that is truly special and authentic to me as a designer.

One of the first ‘sewing skills’ I mastered was hand embroidery. I was aged somewhere between 7 – 8 when I began exploring this craft & it was something I continued doing throughout my teens and early twenties. I used to actually embroider entire wedding dresses. Sadly it was long before digital photos, so I don’t have the evidence of this to show you. But I found tracing paper on which I planned & plotted the last corset’s detail I hand embroidered the other day and it got me thinking: how we’ve become such a fast paced world where everything is measured, where these beautiful, artisan, almost sacred skills seems to be lost.

Well, I decided to return to some of those basic core things that used to set my soul on fire, and began by hand embroidering this detail on Dawn’s beautiful, delicate bridal tulle scarf. Their initials were on the other side (which I don’t have a professional photo of though).

It brought a long lost piece of my inner creative sewing artist alive. And when Dawn got tears in her eyes at seeing it for the first time while exclaiming ”this gives me all the feels”, I knew I was perhaps I was onto something.

What can I say, authenticity cannot be faked. It cannot be explained. It can only be lived, expressed and felt.
