Terms & Conditions

ORDERING & SIZING

1. MADE-TO-MEASURE / MADE-TO-ORDER BRIDAL

Each Maryke wedding dress is handmade to order in our South African studio. Your dress will be made for you exclusively according to your personal measurements.

All manufacturing is done in-house by our skilled team of seamstresses with high quality fabrics and laces, hand sewn & couture finishes.

Maryke dresses come standard in one of the following lengths:
A – 110cm (from waist seam of dress to floor)
B – 118cm (from waist seam of dress to floor)
C – 125cm (from waist seam of dress to floor)

  • For designs without a waist seam, the standard waist to floor length on a professional, industry standard dressmaker’s mannequin will be used.
  • Please ensure that you select the length closest to your own waist to floor length, including your wedding shoe height. Rather opt for a longer length, as your hem can be taken up by your seamstress / tailor.

Your order will either be Standard Order (see point number 2) or a Rush Order (see point number 3).

2. MADE TO ORDER – STANDARD

Orders placed 4 months or more (16+ weeks) from your wedding date is Standard Made to Order.

Your dress will be made according to the Made-to-measure method discussed in point number 1.

Your order will be dispatch approximately 6 – 8 weeks before your wedding date. For shipping information please refer to point number 15 below.

3. PRIORITY (RUSH) ORDERS

Orders placed 6 – 16 weeks from your wedding date will be a Rush Order. Your order is subject to our approval. Our production team will assess whether we have manufacturing capacity to accommodate your order. Our Online Stylist will be in contact as soon as possible. You may also direct any queries via info@maryke.co.za.

Your dress will be made according to the Made-to-measure method discussed in point number 1.

Your dress will become a priority and will go into production immediately. Therefore, please ensure that your measurements are submitted via email within 48 hours of placing your order. Our Online Stylist will assist and slot your measurements in for production to commence. Failure to provide your measurements within 48 hours of placing your order may result in your wedding dress being delayed; a fault not assumed by Maryke.

Provided your measurements are submitted within the required time frame above, your order will arrive no less than 7 days from your wedding date. For shipping information please refer to point number 8 – 13 below.

Alterations may be required and it is advisable that you have someone booked for alterations once your dress arrives.

For more on alterations please refer to point number 15.

  • If your wedding date is less than 6 weeks away, please email us urgently on info@maryke.co.za. Should we be able to accommodate your order, it is advisable that you have someone booked for alterations once your dress arrives.
  • An additional fee of 300USD (for international brides) and SAR2 500 (for South African and Namibian brides) will apply to orders placed under 6 weeks of your wedding date.

4. HOW IS MY ORDER SECURED?

Once you have placed your order, our Online Stylist will be in contact to capture your measurements and slot it into the appropriate production schedule best suited to your order.

  • Note that once your measurements have been slotted in, your order is final and regrettably you will not be able to cancel your order.
    Refer to point number 17 – 19 for more information regarding cancellations.

5. ORDERING ASSISTANCE

Our dedicated online team is here for you before, during and after the ordering process. We happily assist with any questions you may have all the way from measurements, shipping details right through to the delivery of your dress.

For Skype calls please let us know where in this beautiful world you are situated, in order for us to take time zone differences into account when scheduling your call.

6. REQUEST A FABRIC SWATCH

Should you wish to request a swatch of our beautiful fabrics before you commit to your order REQUEST A FABRIC SWATCH. Please specify the style and colourway you are requesting the swatch for (some styles have various colourway options available).

  • Note that this may entail an additional admin & shipping fee which will be communicated and invoiced by our Online Team once we have received your email request.
    If, however you have already placed your order and your measurements have been slotted in for production, you may request a complimentary fabric swatch.

7. HOW TO TAKE MEASUREMENTS

We do recommend that you have assistance when taking your measurements. You can also follow this easy diagram on how to take your measurements.

a. Bust – Around the fullest part of your bust, across the nipple (please ensure that the measuring tape is not too high or too low across your back)
b. Waist – The narrowest part of your torso (usually where your hands would naturally sit if you place them in your waist).
c. Hip – The fullest part of your ‘bottom’ (you might have to move the measuring tape up or down a little to make sure you send through the biggest of the measurements you get. Again, ensure that the measuring tape is not too high or too low across your back).
d. Ribcage (underbust) – Measure directly under the bust, where your bra would sit (if you are wearing a bra be careful not to measure over the underwire. Measure under the underwire.
e. Chest – Above your bust (usually with the tape running directly under your underarms. Again, ensure that the measuring tape is not too high or too low across your back).
f. Neck to bust point (nipple) – From your neck to nipple.
g. Shoulder to bust point (nipple) – From the middle of your shoulder to nipple.
h. Shoulder to waist – From middle of shoulder, over nipple to the narrowest part of your waist (usually where your hands would naturally sit if you place them in your waist).
i. Shoulder to floor – From shoulder bone to floor – measure in a straight line, do not curve into the body.
j. Waist to floor – From the smallest part of your waist to floor (again, measure in a straight line).
k. Underbust to top of bust – Measure from under bust (where the underwire of your bra would sit), over the nipple to the edge of desired cup finish.
l. Across front – From the little folds at underarm to the other little fold on the other side.
m. Across back – From the fold at the one end to the fold on the other end.
n. Bicep – Measure the fullest part of your upper arm
o. Sleeve length – Hold your arm at a 40 ̊angle and measure from the shoulder bone to the wrist.

Maryke dresses come standard in one of the following lengths:

SHIPPING & DELIVERY

Because this is the most important dress you will ever wear and so much passion & care went into its creation, we believe in only using the most reputable shipping companies. We are however not liable for delays or late deliveries caused by the shipping companies.

8. SHIPPING IN SOUTH AFRICA & NAMIBIA

If you are located within South Africa, your wedding dress will be delivered by either Globeflight or The Courier Guy. Depending on where you are situated, it will take 3 – 7 working days for your dress to be delivered.

  • Please note that surcharges may apply to outlying areas.
  • Brides situated in Namibia can select the Namibian delivery fee at check-out. Your order will be delivered by DHL Express

9. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING (OUTSIDE THE BORDERS OF SOUTH AFRICA)

Maryke dresses are delivered worldwide. All international orders are sent via DHL and takes 3 – 7 working days to arrive.

Our dispatch team will send your tracking information in order for you to track your parcel.

10. DELIVERY

Delivery times provided by this website are only estimates. All orders require a minimum of 16 weeks to be manufactured and delivered, unless otherwise agreed between Maryke and the client. Maryke will not be held accountable for late deliveries or loss or damages relating to late deliveries. Please refer to point number 8 and 9 for additional information.

For information regarding currency, duties and taxes refer to points 12 & 13.

11. SHIPPING COSTS

Shipping costs are calculated at the end of the transaction and will be added just before you proceed to payment of your order. Please select your country or area at checkout.

12. CURRENCY & PAYMENT

Our international online store prices are in USD. All other non-specified currencies are charged in USD. The prices showing on the website are approximate and the actual exchange rate charged on your credit card are set by your credit card provider or bank. Payments are processed via PayPal.

Our South African online store is set up in SAR and payments are processed via Payfast.

Please note that we are a South African based business and your bank may charge an international transaction fee. We do not have control over this fee as it is enforced by your bank. It is advisable to contact your bank if you have any queries.

13. DUTIES AND TAXES

Duties and taxes are not included in our prices and are payable by the customer. Your country may apply import duties and taxes. To be aware of any charges you might have to pay, it is advisable for international brides (outside of South Africa) to check with their import / customs department for an estimated cost.

All orders are shipped on Delivery Duties Unpaid (DDU).

All charges must be paid by the customer to ensure customs release your parcel. Failure to do so may result in a delay or for your delivery to be abandoned. Maryke will not be held responsible for damage or loss caused by the abandonment or delay of your delivery.

  • Certificates of origin will be provided where trade agreements are in place between our countries. This will mean reduced duties & taxes.

RETURNS AND EXCHANGES

14. RETURNS & EXCNAHGES ON STANDARD AS WELL AS PRIORITY (RUSH) ORDERS

As your garment is made for you especially, according to your personal measurements, we are unable to offer returns, refunds or exchanges, unless in the event of a genuine manufacturing fault.

We pride ourselves in the superior quality of our garments and believe in maintaining high quality standards. Quality Checks happen at various stages of manufacturing.

  • Please note however, as each garment is authentically hand crafted, slight design deviations may occur on lace placement etc. This is not considered a manufacturing fault.

Dresses are manufactured according to the measurements provided and submitted at the time of slotting them in for production. Maryke will not be held liable for a bride losing / putting on weight in between the ordering and delivery of a gown.

The length of the dress is manufactured according to the standard options provided and may require adjustment on receipt (by a seamstress in your area). Maryke will not take responsibility for dress lengths due to changes in shoes height etc. Please refer to point 1 regarding the dress lengths offered and how it is obtained.

We advise you try your dress on as soon as you have received it and if you have any queries or require advice regarding alterations, please contact aftersales@maryke.co.za within 72 hours of receiving your dress.

15. ALTERATIONS

Although Maryke makes every effort to match a gown as closely to a bride’s measurements, some alterations may be required to ensure a perfect fit. Alteration costs are not included in our prices and are the responsibility of the client.

Dresses are manufactured according to the measurements provided and submitted at the time of slotting them in for production. Maryke will not be held liable for a bride losing / putting on weight in between the ordering and delivery of a gown.

The length of the dress is manufactured according to the standard options provided and may require adjustment on receipt (by a seamstress / tailor in your area). Maryke will not take responsibility for dress lengths due to changes in shoes height etc. Please refer to point 1 regarding the dress lengths offered.

16. MANUFACTURING FAULTS

In the unlikely event of a manufacturing fault you will need to provide the following within 72 hours of receiving your dress:

  • Images of the defects
  • Updated measurements
    Our manufacturing team will assess your unique situation. If a manufacturing fault is found, Maryke will cover the postage for the return of the garment and the fault will be rectified. Please note that the dress has to be returned in its original packaging.
  • Also note, as each garment is authentically hand crafted, slight design deviations may occur on lace placement etc. This is not considered a manufacturing fault.
  • Cleaning of gowns will be done at the risk of the customer and Maryke will not be held responsible for any damages or discolouration of fabrics. This applies to all garments.

17. CANCELLATION (STANDARD MADE-TO-MEASURE)

You may cancel your order within 7 days of placing your order. A cancellation fee of 100USD (for international brides) and SAR500 (for South African & Namibian brides) will apply. The cancellation fee covers admin costs as well as pre-production procedures such as lace allocation, pre-product and pattern preparation.

18. CANCELLATION (PRIORITY (RUSH) MADE-TO-MEASURE)

You may cancel your order within 24hours of placing your order. A cancellation fee of 100USD (for international brides) and SAR500 (for South African & Namibian brides) will apply. The cancellation fee covers admin costs as well as pre-production procedures such as lace allocation, pre-product and pattern preparation.

No cancellations will be accepted once an order has gone into production.

19. CANCELLATION FEE

If extreme circumstances require you to cancel your order, you may only do so providing your garment hasn’t gone into production. Once a garment has gone into production no cancellations will be accepted.

There is a cancellation fee of 250USD (for international brides) and SAR950 (for South African & Namibian brides) to cover admin costs as well as pre-production procedures such as lace allocation, pre-production and pattern preparation associated with your order.

Please contact aftersales@maryke.co.za well in advance to discuss the circumstances surrounding your request to cancel your order. Cancellations are subject to Maryke’s approval and Maryke reserves the right to deny the cancellation of your order.

20. LIABILITY

Maryke, including our partners, directors, shareholders, employees and other third parties associated with the running this website is not liable to the maximum extent permitted by law to you or anyone else for any loss of income, profit, contracts, financial loss, goodwill or damage without limitation suffered as a result of negligence or otherwise arising connection with use of this website or the products sold on it.

21. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

Maryke will use all reasonable endeavours to carry out her obligations within a reasonable period but will not be liable to the client for any loss, costs, or expenses arising directly or indirectly from any delays if the delay or failure was due to any cause beyond Maryke’s reasonable control.

Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, the following will be regarded as causes beyond Maryke’s reasonable control:

a. Cancellation of the wedding
b. Any acts of God, flood, explosion, tempest, fires or accident
c. Riots which may affect the wedding, civil disturbance or requisition, war or threat of war
d. Any late arrivals of gowns resulting from delayed orders from late payments made
e. Strikes, lock outs, industrial actions or trade disputes
f. Difficulties in obtaining raw materials, labour, fuel, parts or machinery
g. Power failure
h. If Maryke is at fault, directly or indirectly for any defects in any item ordered or the late delivery of such item, Maryke’s liability will be limited to the value of the purchase price of the item and no subsequent damages will be claimable from Maryke, its members or its representatives.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR THE USE OF THIS WEBSITE

The use of this site is governed by the terms, conditions and policies set forth below. Please read through them carefully. By using this website, www.maryke.co.za, you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions outlined above and below, as well as the provisions of our Privacy Policy. Maryke (‘’Bespoke by Maryke’’, ‘’Maryke Collection’’, ‘’Maryke Curves’’) reserves the right to change or add to this website, including these terms and conditions at any time.

22. COPYRIGHT

Maryke owns and operates this website. All materials appearing on this site, including images, graphics, icons, logos, icons, site design and text is the sole property of Maryke, unless otherwise specified.

This site and its content may only be used for the purpose of shopping, placing an order on this site, scheduling an appointment and familiarising yourself with the products and services of Maryke. Without prior written permission from Maryke, no materials from this site may be copied, reproduced, modified, republished, uploaded, posted, distributed or transmitted in any form or by any means.

All rights not expressly granted herein are reserved. Unauthorised use of materials appearing on this site may violate copyright and other applicable laws and could result in criminal or civil penalties.
